The Saphira C8 is an Italian-made commercial-grade dry steam cleaner: 8 BAR pressure, 82 g/min output, and continuous dry steam at 170°C+. Dust mites don't survive above about 55°C, so dry steam at 170°C+ is a simple, chemical-free way to treat the mattresses, pillows, sofas and carpets where they live — and because it's dry steam, those surfaces are usable again within minutes, not hours.

What "dry steam" means and why does it matter

"Dry steam" is steam at 5% or less moisture content — the rest is high-temperature water vapour at 170°C+. Compared with the wet steam from a typical home steamer:

Care notes

Use distilled or filtered water to extend the boiler's life. The stainless steel boiler resists scale better than aluminium, but mineral buildup is still possible with hard tap water. Empty the boiler after each use. The unit ships with some residual water from Australian quality testing prior to dispatch — this is normal.

What does "dry steam" actually mean?

Steam at 5% or less moisture content. Most home steamers produce wet steam (15–30% moisture); dry steam carries more thermal energy per gram and leaves surfaces dry within minutes. It's the standard in hospital and commercial cleaning.

Does it treat dust mites and bed bugs?

Dust mites die above about 55°C and bed bugs above about 50°C. The Saphira produces dry steam at 170°C+ — well above both thresholds — so steam applied directly to a surface reaches lethal temperatures. Effectiveness depends on direct contact, application time and technique; steam treats only the surfaces it directly reaches.

Does it require chemicals or detergents?

No — water is the only required input. The effect comes from high-temperature steam, not chemistry. The manufacturer's positioning is "reduce chemical usage by up to 95%."

Why is it $2,890+ when other steam cleaners are under $200?

Three reasons: a commercial-grade Italian build with a stainless steel boiler designed for daily use; true dry steam at 170°C+ (most cheap steamers produce wet steam at 100–130°C); and 8 BAR / 82 g/min output well above household units. For daily or commercial cleaning, the per-hour cost works out lower than replacing cheap units every few years.

What's in the 18-piece kit?

Multi-purpose floor nozzles, an upholstery attachment with microfibre, detail brushes for grout and fittings, a glass squeegee, fabric sleeves, extension hoses and detail nozzles. Accessories are 50% Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP).

Why is there some residual water on delivery?

Every unit is function-tested in Australia before dispatch, which leaves a small amount of water. This is intentional quality assurance, not a defect.
